Great beach, OK hotel
The Don Cesar is a beautiful, historic hotel right on St. Pete Beach. The hotel is isolated from other area hotels so the beach is fairly private and quiet. I loved the pool area - two pools a hot tub and a bar. The hotel itself is just OK. Although it is probably the most luxuriest beach hotel within 10-15 miles the rooms are rather small and kind of uncomfortable (very poor furnishings). I thought the housekeeping was particularly poor given the class of hotel - I dont think the hallway outside my room was vacuumed during my entire 3 day stay and my room was not cleaned well either. I recommend this hotel due to the fact you have little choice in this area although Id certainly only stay when they have a deal...it is not worth the full price.

Going back next year
What a great place! The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and responsive to every request. The location was great. The beach and pool staff were great. The resturants were wonderful. We met a couple who told us about a sunset cruise. The desk personnel not only helped us book the cruise but the door staff drove us to the dock and pickedus up when were wer done! Worth the money! Beach was clean, dolphins came by every morning, plenty of fish in the water. Great trip! We are booking for next year, same time!

Best hotel in the area
Don Cesar is the most upscale hotel on StPete beach - true 4 star. Clean rooms, good (but a bit overpriced) restaurants, excellent beach and pool service. The ocean is shallow, quiet and warm - perfect for small kids. Expect to see extra charge in your bill though - beach service is not included in Expedia price.
Traveller's tip for business travellers
If you rent a car at Tampa airport, fill the tank in St Pete (before the bridge) when you return it. I275 leads directly into airport so there will be no gas station
