A wonderful hotel
The Westin Auckland is a wonderfully relaxing and beautiful hotel in a less bustling part of the city. The service is excellent and the rooms are in great condition. We had a quiet room that was perfect for resting after the long plane ride from the US. The bar and restaurant are appealing and good. I would be eager to stay here on a future visit.

Not the best but not the worst either
Upon arrival it was noticed that there was hair on the pillow. The room itself was of a decent size but considering that the stay in the hotel was for 10 days there was very limited closet space available. We requested to look at another room, a larger more expensive room but they too had very small closets so we stuck with the room we began with. Overall the hotel was nice but more closet space is needed as a stand alone little wall unit wardrobe does not accommodate clothing for 2 people for a week.
Traveller's tip for business travellers
All the hotel is nice it really isnt as conveniently located to shopping, dinning or other locations as Princes Wharf (Hilton). Bottled water was $10NZD which is over priced so I managed to get to a store to buy my own but had to catch a cab to do so due to distance of hotel to any convenience store. Just a note, if you plan on sight seeing either rent a car or wear sneakers.

Friendly, fabulous service!
Like all Westins (except, perhaps, Tokyo) the rooms were comfortable and immaculate but the best thing about Auckland Lighter Quay is their people. Everyone, from the porters to the concierge, from reception to the spa was friendly and thoughtful, always offering that little bit extra for which you would never have thought to ask. Highly recommended - Ill be back!
Traveller's tip for business travellers
The taxi ride from Auckland inteernational takes a little over 45mins if the traffic is clear and costs between $75 and $100 - the Westin happily organizes an excellent, full service, car service for only 110nzd - and is well worth it. The drivers are friendly and thoughtful and will happily stop off on the way should you realise you need something from a chemist, convenience store or other such supplies.
