A lovely October break

Me and my wife and 14 month old son had a wonderful stay. The staff are extremely friendly and internal decor and location is fabulous. Food is good with lots of choice at dinner. Breakfast is more continental, but still good. Buses run frequently from the road above the hotel to Dubrovnik and Cavtat (a little steep, especially with a push chair, but okay) or the hotel has a shuttle bus to run you about.

Sorry, but an odd one. For a slightly surreal day out, take a walk along the coastal path towards Dubronnik from the Astarea. After about 2km you will find burnt and shelled out hotels along the coast from the war. They are stitting in gorgeous crystal clear bays. Apparently most hotels in this area were destroyed except the Astarea. And why did the Astarea survive? This is where the Serbian army stayed! None of this is visible from the Astarea, so it make you realise what a fantastic job the Croatians have done in restoring their country following the war. I guess piece by piece they are repairing the damage.

A very pleasant holiday

The accomodation (Asterea 2) was clean and comfortable although the common areas were in need of refurbishment. There were defective lights in the room which were fixed as soon as mentioned to the recption. The staff were universally courteous and helpful, and the food was excellent. The location was eminently suitable for a relaxing break, without being cut off from the sights and attractions of Dubrovnik and the islands.

Will be returning

Great hotel in lovely location. 10-15 minute bus ride to Dubrovnik. Staff are friendly and helpful, food is good, pool is great and views are fantastic. Close to several beaches and walk along the coast is great and very scenic. Only downside is that sound insulation isn’t good in the rooms so can hear tv and people talking next door.

Traveller's tip on dining

Bars and cafes in Mlini are well worth visiting, relaxed, good atmosphere, locals are there, good value for money
