A little hotel in a big city

The Petit Palace is a small hotel with a good location to the Rambla, just a nice walk. It is also close to locations where a traveler can access the hop-on, hop-off bus for seeing various areas of the city, and spending as much time in different areas as they wish. Barcelona is very large and spread out, and the Petit Palace is near the center of many of the tourist sites. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are ones close by, and for the weary traveler, who has arrived in the afternoon, walked La Rambla, and does not want to go out for a late dinner, the hotel will provide a very simple room service. They also have a breakfast buffet, in the lower lever of the hotel, which is quite sufficient. All in all returning to the Petit Palace would be a pleasure. The staff was excellent, as were the accommodations.

I am not impressed with the hotel but its location is great for exploring the city.

The hotel itself is well maintained, clean and has a good staff at the reception (not overly polite but efficient). It is located in a great and safe part of the city. They should change the colour of the walls and curtains in the hallways immediately, the colour is black, and it feels as if one is stuck in a coffin. A VERY disturbing feeling! Do not plan to have breakfast in the hotel, the breakfast room is in the basement - no windows, no natural light, very grim atmosphere. There were two sets of Italian families, very noisy bunch - children playing, running, talking loudly (adults as well) all in the hallway. Other guests were complaining too, the reception staff did not deal with the situation well.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Beautiful city, elegant, interesting, clean and cultured. Negative:it hasn’t used nor developed the seafront to its full potential. The further you are from the sea the better the things you can see. The must:the two-day bus tour, the Modernisme & Picasso walk (and museum),the Funicular & Teleferic, the Diagonal,Pas. de Gracia,Park Guell,a concert at El Petit Palau, flamenco show, and breakfast at Farga on Gran Via (others are not very good!). We stayed for 10 days-not enough to see it all!
