Brilliant Value Comfortable Hotel
Id read some pretty rough reviews of this place before we got there but now I cant imagine why you would give this place a bad review. Its no luxury hotel, but you get what you pay for. The staff are so helpful, our room was clean and cleaned every day, the pool was very pleasant and the pool staff couldnt do enough for you. We were on half-board. The breakfast was a good selection of pastries, salad, bread, meat and cheese. Dinner is usually a choice of two dishes with a salad bar. Its not very vegetarian friendly, but neither is Tunisia in general. The food was generally of a good quality and the staff were again helpful and friendly. The hotel is very good value for money and if youre looking for a nice cheap place to stay in Hammamet I recommend this place. It is walking distance to the medina and the beach.
Traveller's tip on shopping
Be careful when you head down to the medina. If you take a taxi men will approach you saying they work in your hotel (they dont) and that there is a special festival on only that day (there isnt). They will take you to a shop and try to rip you off. Be firm. My best advice is pretend you dont understand them. They will try english, french, german, spanish and polish at least, if you shrug and walk away they will MOSTLY leave you alone.

Good Value
I found the Amira to be a plesant 5 story hotel built around a good swimming pool.As I was there in mid-may,it was only half full.It was some distance from the beach, which was inaccesable due to the other hotels hogging the beach for themselves. They did lay on a regular minibus to thetown beach. It was only a 15 minute walk into Hammamet and very central by the standards of this far_flung resort. All the local shops and cafes cater for locals mostly, unlike the tourist traps in the centre.Overall,a very good deal!
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Avoid the central drag near the medina for snacks, coffee etc, as there are numerous local cafes where you get the same servise at local prices.
