Finland 2, Wales 1 Better luck next time...

Ten of us visited Helsinki to watch the above football match. All 10 of us agree that the Radisson Seaside is a 1st class place to stay for a weekend. Romms were pf a good size and v. clean and comfortable. Our rooms were on the first floor facing the harbour and the soundproofing was excellent. The only minor criticism was that the central heating could not be adjusted in the room and it was rather warm (in October. We probably wouldn’t mind in the winter! Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. Note that the dining room can get crowded. Staff were very friendly and helpful - especially Piia and her collegues on duty on the 11th October 2009. Hotel is a pleasant 15 min walk from city centre or you can catch tram outside the hotel.Hotel staff arranged a taxi to the airport for 60 euro for 10 people which was cheaper than when we arranged a taxi ourselves upon our arrival and not much more expensive than the bus.

At harbour

Safe haven from storm that we had the time I stayed at the hotel. Clean spacy room (invalid room). Good beds (separate thou, ordered twin bed). No view from this room. Service ok. Tram to the center from the front. Breakfast exellent on the first morning, second no, because I went only 15 mins. before closing (many things were finished)

Nice Helsinki Hotel

Good hotel, easy by public transportation as there is a street car stop directly in front of the hotel. The hotel has a sauna and a better restaurant. Staff is friendly and the room is clean. Only negative - a queen size bed is two twins beds rolled together. Avoid confusion - there are several Radisson’s in Helsinki, so know the full name of the hotel if you use a taxi.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Use the street car to get to the main train station, which also serves as the bus stop for the Finnair ahuttle to the airport.
