Very nice hotel hidden away but in striking distance of everything
The hotel is hard to find, and after winding down a hill in the dark, almost impossible to see. The hotel has parking for 6 cars, hidden from view! The rooms are basic.. Barely 3 star, let alone 4 star. This is no Sheraton or Kempinski. Breakfast is extremely basic. No hot food, nothing special. Having said all of that, the staff are friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is incredibly overpriced for the facilities, and the only benefit is the location.
You definitely need a car to stay at this hotel. There is little to do in Portisco apart from swim, and a few mediocre restaurants. However, it is well located for getting to all the Costa Smeralda beaches

We will definately go back.
After reading previous reviews we expected to pay alot of money but found Le Sirene to be very reseasonably priced, certainly for the area. The location was lovely, very clean, peaceful and only a short drive to nearby ports where there is a wide selection of bars & restaurants. Look out for tortoises!!

Apartments with no self-catering facilities and few standard hotel facilities
Hotel le Sirene is located a long way from anything so you need to rent a car in Olbia airport for your stay. Its location means without private transport you will be eating mostly in the 4 or 5 restaurants beside the hotel for your trip. Although the hotel charges hotel prices it has no standard hotel facilities except for a breakfast room, reception and internet access (5 euros per 30 mins!). Nice marina though.
Traveller's tip on dining
Restaurant meals are very high for the Mediterannean, normal for this part of northeastern Sardinia. Watch out for fish as the menu price is quoted per hg, ie 100 grammes - my standard fish main course excluding sides cost Euro 50 in a resort resto.
