Suitable for our visit but...
The hotel was located very close to the centre of old Rethymnon as advertised but the balcony of our room overlooked the playground of a primary school. This did not really spoil our visit as we were simply looking for a central base from which to explore Crete. It was an easy walking distance from the harbour and a useful rather than attractive location. The rooms could have been a little cleaner - some of the cupboard drawers were a little bit grubby. The buffet breakfast was ok but a little half-hearted and you really needed to get there early. Staff often needed to be asked to lay tables, replenish bread and coffee etc. Service generally was helpful and unintrusive. Relaxed atmosphere. Free use of internet connected computer was very useful. The pool was located on the road side of the hotel and was really, what I would describe as domestic size. Guests did not seem very interested in using it. Roof top patio was pleasant .
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Beware of the organised day trips to Santorini. Santorini can be very crowded and you may find, as we did, that your visit is so regimented that you leave with the feeling that you have not really seen this beautiful island.
