Beware...there are 4 types of 5 star hotels in Beirut
When I was checking out I grabed a booklet about hotels in Beirut. I was suprised to find out that there are 4 types of 5 star hotels in Beirut. These are 5 star A, 5 star B, 5 star international and just 5 star. Apparently, this hotel is the lowest of all 5 star hotels. I was not suprised at all but I did not like the idea of fooling the customers into believing that its a regular 5 star hotel, when it was not. I was in Beirut to celebrate my birthday. I checked in this hotel believing that its my gift for myself on my birthday. This hotel was really bad. I was very disappointed. The room service menu is a one sheet paper and the food is very bad. The rooms are very old and the staff is not friendly at all. The area is close to the house of the prime minister which made it hard to walk around since everything was closed and there was a tank in each corner. I think the hotel should be re-evaluated since I saw the manager of the breakfast hall collecting the breakfast plates and putting back the food in the buffet which was very horrible indeed but no one seemed to notice. He did it professionally. I do not recommend this hotel at all. I think you should invest your money in a 4 star hotel graded A rather than this one.

A Bit Exotic
Overall, this is a very good hotel. Not quite 5 star as the rooms could use some remodeling, but nice. We stayed in a Junior Executive Suite which was very comfortable and had a sitting area. I noticed that the deluxe rooms were probably a bit small. The best part of this hotel is the ambiance. There were a lot of local people, weddings and events happening which made it great fun to sit in the lobby and people watch.
