Reasonable stay at convenient location
Couldn’t be more convenient from the Train station, without the noise, and for the centre of town. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was comfortable and adequate. Shower tended to go hot and cold and not stabilise on one temperature. Meal in restaurant was fair. Main course Risotto was lovely. Pudding of five mini tasters was a bit hit and miss, some were fab, some horrible. Would use again.
Thought breakfast was expensive and not included in room rate. I decided to go to one of many cafes around the corner for a more than adequate breakfast at a third of the price.

good place to stay
I was here for four nights and had no problems. Great location since it’s right across the street from central station and the staff was very helpful. Best of all, it was very well priced. I would definitely recommend.

Can’t wait to go back
All in all, Country Thistle Hotel Newcastle, is a nice hotel and just outside the train station. The room was clean, which mattered alot to me as one can’t stand dirty establishment. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of them saw the funny side of things, when two local Geordie natives walking by in the street, saw me through the hotel’s bar glass window and suddenly decided to join me for a drink. They didn’t leave until the bar closed. The only downside I found with the Thistle hotel was, it is in badly need of vital repairs. The bathroom floor in my room appeared to be licking, as each time I was in there, black water dirt imprints from my slipers will appear from stepping on the bathroom floor, especially after I have had a shower. I had to keep mopping the floor with the foot tower to rid it of the dirt water imprints. Perphaps the wall paper also need changing and the wall painted, soft white instead. But I rate the Thistle highly for its clean room, helpful staff, value for money and good location.
The Thistle hotel is located in newcastle city centre and close to many eating establishment, if you chose to eat outside the hotel.
