Would go back in a heartbeat
This hotel was absolutely perfect. The location was fantastic, A charming boutique hotel with a very modern but not cold feel. The staff there was incredibly friendly & helped us pick some amazing restaurants & tours to take. Honestly, after looking at all the other hotels in the area, I wouldnt recommend any other place than Thingholt. It was everything you could ask for. And honestly, the breakfast was by far one of THE best breakfasts that Ive had in a hotel. Also the pricing of this place is beyond a steal for the location, service, breakfast & overall experience. For me, THE best hotel in Reykjavik!
Best Restaurant experience was Dill Restaurant. 7 Course with Wine Pairing, heavenly experience.

Hotel is not suited for people over five foot tall
The biggest problem was neither my wife nor I could stand up straight in our room except in the bath and at the entrance. Also, the Front desk wouldnt replace a light bulb that was out the first night. Later when my TV quit working they said it was a cable problem. Not so. Total mistake.

Just perfect......... almost
This hotel is great. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It has a wonderful contemporary style the design is so refreshing. The shower/bathroom area does resemble a decontamination chamber but it is all part of the theme. It is a perfect location for shops restaurants and the Grayline Excursion Centre. Do not however underestimate the disruption to your sleep I was there on a friday night and I am assured this was just a rehersal for saturday night. This hotel is just off the main street near the clubs and bars which come alive after midnight. The icelanders know how to party. Sleep was impossible after 1am and I had to leave at 5 am for the airport!!!
Traveller's tip on shopping
In spite of the noise I would stay here again.
