very good hotel for affordable price

We had very nice room with comfortable spacious bathroom which was cleaned everyday. Staff of hotel very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated only 10 minutes away from Vesuviana train station handy for visiting place. Overall very good.

Traveller's tip on dining

The place ideal for dinning in Piano Di Sorrento is Tre Arcade situated in the town centre. Absolutely delcious good selection of fresh food and take away (for example for trip to Capri). Friendly staff and good in price. Highly recommended!

Not impressed

Our room smelled horrible. We had to air it out for hours to get the smell out. The bathroom door would not close and you had to enter from the outside stairs at night. It was uncomfortable. Also, it is not in Sorrento as it appears.

Friendly Staff

The staff of this hotel make sure that the two train stops from the city center is worth the distance. They are courteous, customer friendly and are always helpful. The view outside the room is gorgeous. It gives you peace and quiet.

Stay is affordable and close to the city center. When you get off Piano di Sorrento Train Station, turn left to get to Via Bagnulo and it is only less than 10 minutes from the train stop. The hotel will be on the right side of Via Bagnulo.

Relais Francesca

I marked this down on overall satisfaction because the room was at times extremely noisy. First, the room was at the back of the building and there seemed to be some kind of farmyard next to it. Dogs barked persistantly and at all times of the day and a rooster started crowing in the in early hours (that was not so bad!). On the Friday and Saturday nights there was some kind of party or discoteque not too far away and the noise from it was very loud - around 1 am it died down. These noises could be heard whether or not the doors to the terrace were closed - the door did not shut tight. I don’t particularly like air conditioning but this had to be left on and, as I am a light sleeper, did affect the quality of my sleep. Also on one night there was someone in a neighbouring room and his/her snoring could be heard clearly through the wall! I would not stay there again only because of these reasons.

Pretty Hotel in perfect location

This was my return to this part of Italy after 15 years - I wanted to bring my wife for our first anniversary. I picked this hotel because of the excellent location. True, it is not in the heart of Sorrento - it’s about a 5 minute drive or 5 minutes by train, which again is under a 5 minute walk from the hotel, but if like me, you are planning to get the most of this region by visiting not only Sorrento town, but also Mount Vesuvius & Pompei, Capri & Amalfi/Ravello & Naples, then you couldn’t find a better spot. We hired a cabriolet but because the hotel is close to the station, we used the train for the majority of our excursions. Parking tends to be expensive at the above destinations versus the relatively cheap train fares. The hotel is in a good state, the room we had was a decent size & was thoroughly cleaned everyday. There is no issue with towels as mentioned in other reviews. They are different to the fluffy ones that some are used to, it’s really not that big a deal. There is parking for about four cars inside the grounds(which are beautifully lined with kiwi/oranges/grape vines). The breakfast is at best basic, but if you are relying on breakfast to be your main meal in this region, then you are missing the point of being here! Piano di Sorrento, is a fairly quiet location, but they do have a main road & there are some places to eat & buy provisions nearby.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

If you are driving out there, pay for the DEV - damage excess waiver!! I’m a good driver, but it is acceptable to knock cars as you go along - the roads are very narrow & people still park leaving you with little space. Driving through Naples is also a hair-raising experience. You have been warned.. PS I didn’t hit anything, but I saw parked cars routinely being bashed & clipped.Pompeii/Vesuvius/Sorrento town/Capri are well connected by public transport, so use the train.

Would recommend

Clean, modern, peaceful hotel and very convenient for Sorrento and spectacular Amalfi coastline.
