Lovely stay
We stayed here for 3 nights during a weekend trip to Alicante. The hotel is very clean and nice, has friendly staff and nice breakfast buffet. Rooms either have a beach or marina view.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Perfect location to walk to anywhere in Alicante - shopping, nightlife and beach. You can even hike up onto the mountain with the castle.

Great location. Great buffet breakie!
Really big rooms. Kids had their own + bathroom. They wished for a DVD or English TV Channels. Note: No parking we had to park in a car park next door. Cost 18pounds per day. Fab buffet breakie 15Euro. Nice pool but frezing!
Kids loved the beach and the many icecreams they ate. Best are on the main strip where the retaurants are. The castle was cool. They got a bit tired walking around the old part of town but it has lovely buildings. They have markets on all day and extra at night.(knock off handbags) Have fun.

Excellent hotel in a great location
The Melia is ideally located on the seafront seconds from the marina, beach and town centre. I booked a room for 3 people and we appeared to be upgraded as we had 2 main bedrooms (one a living room with sofa bed), 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies overlooking the swimming pool. There are no tea/coffee making facilities so take the travel kettle. It was worth the extra 8 euros per room for breakfast as you could have virtually anything you wanted as there was so much choice of hot and cold food. Service was efficient and staff were very friendly. Only disappointment was probably the swimming pool as it is in the shade most of the day due to the structure of the building, however my 3 year-old son preferred the beach.
Older children may get bored by the lack of holiday entertainment as Alicante is definitely not a "resort" location but on the other hand you can combine the benefits of the beach and a city break.
