Lovely surroundings

Stayed here on a Sunday night whist attending a wedding at Peckforton Castle. Very quiet. judging by breakfast. English breakfast very good but why did people at 4 different tables all need to ask for sauce? Room nice and spacious but spoilt by having a double bed a king size would have fitted in very easily. Lovely countryside around and about. Pheasant’s Inn had fabulous views food and beer at lunch time.

Not impressed

Bedroom was cold. Despite going to reception twice (phone not working),the heating was not turned on. One pillow each is not comfortable. The bathroom was warm but smelt of drains; the lavatory leaked. The food in the restaurant was interesting but meagre, an expensive prawn starter consisted of just two prawns! Coffee on arrival was extremely unpleasant. Breakfast was chaotic. Buffet area too small, people waiting for replenishments with cold plates guaranteed general dissatisfaction. Overall very disappointing.

Gorgeous old inn set in quiet country fields

The worst thing that can happen to anyone on holidays is to get sick; but even this was dealt with professional composure by the staff. Within five minutes of arrival, I was organized with a doctor’s appointment and anything else that was required. The staff even organized a week’s rental of a cottage after the doctor told me to rest for a week. Apart from the above, the hotel accommodation was quaint old world with all the modern amenities. Two separate dining areas with substantial meals at reasonable prices.

Castle down the road and villages filled with charm. A perfect base for a quiet visit to rural England and all its history.
