Convenient Monte Carlo Hotel

We really like the modern feel of this hotel and proximity to the train station. It was very easy to walk to nearby attractions like the casino. Room was clean & comfortable. We had free access to fashion channel on TV (FTV). There was no top sheet on the bed and we had to request one. There was no breakfast included.

Good Hotel For An Expensive Location

Good hotel located away from the seaside, but walking distance from the main casino/Cafe de Paris; shops and Metropole (high end) mini shopping mall. Hotel was clean and modern. Not all the usual frills e.g. body lotion, shower cap, no hotel/surrounding area info in the room, but beautiful restaurant area, and free 20 min at a time internet access. Comfy bed, responsive service e.g. ironing facilities. Hot & cold breakfast buffet - though expensive - but you’re in Monte Carlo!

Traveller's tip

Use local bus service for touring the area. Very clean place. Shops close on Sundays. Cocktails are expensive & not brilliant. Local bus service is excellent and you can transfer ticket to another bus within 30 mins for free. Cheaper to travel by train plus express bus to Nice Airport.

Lovely Location and Place

This hotel is very good -- it was affordable and is in a very central location just down the road from the rail station. Staff are courteous and willing to help, room was lovely with a private balcony for evening drinks. Do try the 7th floor sun terrace for a relaxing space. The pool water is cold but very refreshing after the heat of the Riviera. I did like Novotel Monte Carlo and will want to stay there if I ever return to the city ... last time I was in Monaco, I stayed in a hotel in the western part of the city, and the main sights were more difficult to access than from Novotel.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

The beach called Larvotto is fun, and for a reasonable fee you can rent a deck chair for several hours, soak up the sun, and be brought drinks or lunch -- very relaxing. Your legs will get a workout in Monaco, as it is very hilly, and using the lifts in various parts of town can help reduce the steep climbing. In general, expect to get lost a few times, but that is part of the fun.
