Italian charmer
Our family were the first British guests to stay there for two years and on the whole of Elba we saw no other English seaking people. This is fantastic, as you really felt you were emersed in the Italian culture and made us attempt more of the language. The hotel is a little isolated, but taxi services are available if you want to escape. The hotel was booked as all inclusive. Your main meals are free and the buffets are excellent. The free drinks are limited to certain meal times, so you’ll still need to pay if you fancy a glass of vino in the afternoon. You also pay 30 uros extra on arrival per person - never reall knew what this was for. The hotel has a fab beach - crystal clear waters ideal for diving/snorkling - both of which are available to hire/purchase at the hotel. Saw load of fish and ven an octopus!!!! Beach shoes are recommended as the beach is really stoney and is a killer when walking back to lay on you sunbed.You can buy these in the hotel shop foe 5 euros and they are worth every penny. There is loads of stuff to do but there are limitations as only Italian/German spoken by most of the staff. The local cabbie Luigi is great (Only 3 on the island). He will take you to some local eateries, which reception will reserve, as you might get a touch of cabin fever as we did. The island is beautiful and its worth all the effort to get there (Flight to Pisa, Private car to Piombino port (2hrs), Ferry to Elba(1hr)- Rio Marina Closest port,taxi transfer to hotel.
