Great location & helpful service
Great central location for visiting all the tourist attractions, you can leave the hotel in a different direction each day and only needs a short walk to where you want to be. Helpful staff and the hotel was clean and comfortable. We stayed in the annex building which did involve a few stairs, but wasnt a problem for us. Breakfast was basic and nothing special, but sufficient. Overall, a great place to stay.
Later in the season worked well for us since it seemed less crowded. We visited early November. I think late September or early October would be perfect.

Full of character and perfectly located
My wife and I have visited Rome many times and stayed in many hotels. Well definitely stay in Teatro di Pompeo again! We stayed in the annexe part of the hotel - room 2 - which is a lovely big dual-aspect corner room. It was perfect in every respect - except Ill list the things which may trouble some people: Its on the 2nd floor with no lifts. The staircase is narrow so negotiating with heavy bags is tricky - though the hotel staff will help if needed. Its in a busy part of Rome. Rome is a noisy city so you will hear motorcycles and people well into the night. Earplugs are recommended if this troubles you. Thats the bad parts out of the way. The breakfast room is wonderful - in the old ruins of the old theatre (Julius Caesar was supposedly killed on the steps of this theatre). The staff are very helpful and didnt charge me for printing out a 10 page boarding pass on their office printer! Location is perfect and its very close to some useful bus stops. Piazza Navona & Campo del Fiori are 5 minutes walk. 10 minutes to the Pantheon. 15-20 minutes will get you to most other sights including the Roman Forum, Trajans Forum, Trevi Fountain & the Colloseum. Very close by (about 2 blocks) is Largo Argentina - with the Torre Argentina cat sanctuary which were avid supporters of so drop in and visit the cats!
Traveller's tip on local attractions
A Roma Pass (purchased from newsagents in the city) allows several days very cheap travel on public transport. You can also get an extension on this to get into the big attractions much more cheaply than on-the-door prices.

Ideal place to stay
The hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Rome on foot, with all the main sightseeing places within 40 minutes walking. The hotel is clean, with the staff being very helpful, and friendly with nothing apparently too much trouble. The breakfast served in the old theatre caverns was superb.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The location for exploring Rome is ideal, with Piazza Campo de Fiori and Piazza Navona both within minutes by foot, good for night time restaurants.
