Whether you are traveling to Yosemite National Park in the summer, or are looking for an affordable and comfortable place to stay on your winter vacation, the Yosemite Gateway Motel is the perfect spot. We are located in the middle of town in Lee Vining, and we are the only motel in town that overlooks Mono Lake - with spectacular views from almost every room! We are one of the most popular stops for lodging in the Eastern Sierra for tourists, bird watchers, hikers, photographers, fishermen, skiers, ice climbers, and more..... PLEASE BE ADVISED - The Tioga Pass Road, Highway 120, into Yosemite National Park is closed for the winter every year, usually November through April, depending on snowfall. If you are planning to visit Yosemite during your visit and you are not sure if the road will be open, please check road conditions before making your room reservation. Lee Vining is usually accessible on Highway 395 year round.

nice surprise
The place is older, but theyve done some work on it. Our room was immaculate. It was on the backside, so we didnt hear any street noise. The gal at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

Very basic
This is a very basic motel with no services available. It looks fairly unimpressive on arrival and likewise the room, however it was quite clean. In the middle of the night my children were woken by an animal under or behind a wall making a lot of noise - it was not funny at the time and in the morning I went to mention it to the receptionist only to find the reception area closed and an express checkout service in place, ie. leave your key in the box. Overall I thought the place was expensive for what we got.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Good position for visiting Mono lake and Yosemite National Park. In the centre of the small town of Lee Vining and near to a couple of diners serving dinner and breakfast.
