You get what you pay for

I chose an inexpensive hotel because I knew I’d only be sleeping there; all the same I was disappointed that the bathroom light was a bare bulb (without the shade) and there was mould on the shower curtain. Perhaps I was just unlucky, but I couldn’t open the window because the wooden frame was rotten and I was scared the frame would disintegrate!

The hotel was adequate for a very short stay given the price, but I wouldn’t have liked to stay any longer.

Good value if rather confusing

One confusing thing is the layout of the hotel. Our room was on the ground floor but we had to go upstairs and then down again along miles of corridors to reach it. Another confusing thing was that the receptionist booked us into the restaurant on the day we arrived, but when we went to eat it turned out to be shut for the whole evening and there was no trace of the "booking". However, we had an EXCELLENT meal in the bar from the restaurant menu. We were looked after very well. Little things that we asked for were attended to immediately and in a very friendly way. Considering that it is not far out of London, this hotel is good value.

At £12.50 per head, breakfast is expensive, but there is an excellent cafe (Baker Street) just along the road that serves breakfast every day. The snack bar on the station is also very good, though with more limited choice.

Great location and price

Free wi-fi, right in the middle of Old-Town, and not too high of an expense. This hotel met my expectations of what I needed in a hotel for a couple nights.
