Good transport links
The Siloso Beach hotel is of reasonable standard but dont expect plush. Rooms are clean but tired. Staff are very helpful. The inclusive breakfast is very basic and quality could be improved significantly. The location is good with easy links back the the mainland via the monorail. The beach bars are top quality but expect to pay top prices too. Dont leave it too late to catch the monorail back to the mainland for a night out, last train is 22:00 and after that it is a cab or pay for the expensive food and drink outlets along the beach! Pool is great and very family friendly.
Reasonable value compared to more upmarket hotels in the city.

Did what it said on the tin
The hotel staff were welcoming and friendly and we were able to check in immediately even though we were over an hour early for the standard arrival time. The room was spacious and clean; my only criticisms were that the room smelled musty - a by-product of a humid climate and the housekeeping staff got later and later but I guess they were busy elsewhere in the hotel as a wedding, sales conference and guided tour group checked in and out during our stay. I would return to the hotel but I think Sentosa is a rather overpriced resort. The show we attended lasted only 20 minutes and the cast lip-synched their way through the score; the focus was supposed to be on the lasers and other effects but it was a poor show. The weather wasnt great so if not for the free monorail passes which took us to Vivocity mall we would have been very bored as everything is geared to the great outdoors so there are no wet weather resources. No one advertises internet access so I had to go to Vivvocity which has hotspots all over the mall. On Sentosa the DeliFrance man told me that they dont allow customers to use their system but DeliFrance is one of the major contributors to the free island wide wireless network. To get access, though, you need a local mobile number as the password is sent by SMS. Buy a local prepaid sim for $8 and you get $10 worth of calls - as long as your phone isnt blocked for non network use !
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Buy beer and essentials on the mainland or take the monorail to Vivocity to buy what you need as the one 7-11 on the island has little stock and what is available is grossly overpriced. If the price for a meal isnt shown on the menu ask before ordering - we ordered chili crab, local specialty, and were charged $50 for a plate in a hawker centre. The guidebooks suggest Singaporeans eat chili crab constantly but the ridiculous price suggested otherwise.
