A great hotel but don’t order the cocktails!
We were both very impressed by the cleanliness of the Romance Hotel. It is conveniently situated, around 150 metres from the beach from where the bus takes you into Varna, the second largest city in Bulgaria. The staff were friendly if a little elusive, but steer away from the cocktails at the lobby bar as the finished product will not remotely resemble what you thought you had ordered! All in all, though, we had a very positive experience at the Romance Hotel and we would definitely recommend it.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Arrange a transfer from the airport to the hotel as you will probably be ripped off by the taxi drivers who greet you at the airport. If you don’t mind a bit of a wait at the bus stop at Sveti Konstantin, it is cheaper and easier to take the number 8 bus into Varna rather than getting a taxi. Good luck!
