Perfect for a city break
The Tan Hotel is a few minutes walk from most of the old city sites. The tram stop is two minutes from the hotel. The jacuzzi bath was a blast! The view from the breakfast terrace is great. Make sure you catch the 10:30am Public Bosphorus tour from Eminonu quay, which is only ten minutes away from the Tan Hotel on the tram. Only 20 TRL return as of Nov 2009. Breathtaking. We will return to beautiful Istanbul!

Had a great stay at this hotel
We were very pleased with this hotel. Great location - really handy for the tourist sights (Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, Topaki Palace all just 5 min walk away). The hotel is also down a quiet back street so not much noise at night. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. They were happy to help with anything. Breakfast on the roof top terrace with a view of the Blue Mosque was beautiful. We really enjoyed this hotel and will be back.
Traveller's tip on dining
Lots of restaurants nearby but they hassle you to go in them. Just keep on walking until you find a nice quieter one down a different back street.

An excellent choice next to main attractions
Went to Istanbul 29 July-2nd August. For photos, go to trip advisor. Hotel is as close as youd want to the blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Tokapi Palace but set back from the main road. The main road has plenty on shops to choose from and the grand Bazaar is only a short walk from the hotel. Weather was perfect 29C with warm sea breeze.
Traveller's tip
A must visit the Galata Bridge which is on 2 levels, traffic on top and lower level has restaurants on one side and bars on the other. Was very impressed with manners of locals who will voluntarily give up a seat on public transport to a more needy person. Also do not sit next to a woman in traditional Muslim dress as she may take offence and move away.
