Needs improvement in customer relations
I booked a room for three at this B&B several weeks in advance of our stay. I confirmed the check-in arrangements four days before our arrival. Seven hours before we checked in, I received a phone call telling me the room we had reserved was double-booked and wed been switched to a room for two. The B&B person was very pleasant and said they were checking about our party number and would upgrade us to the apartment for three. When we arrived, there (as expected) no one to greet us, but our keys were where they said they would be. However, the upgrade was very disappointing: a nice little apartment, but furnished with garage sale/student furniture. The sofa and chairs were covered with floral sheets and ill-fitting, very uncomfortable cushions. There was no warmth or coziness to the room(s)--in contrast to the charming decor displayed in the photos of the room I had actually booked. The instructions say to let them know the day before which breakfast option you prefer. We never found anyone or were told any way to do this. We did have a nice breakfast one morning, but the second morning it was the same, so we skipped breakfast that day and the next. There was no one to give us information/tips on Houston or the surrounding area. The maps and visitor information in the apartment appeared to have been left by past guests and were from 2007 or before. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

Nice if you like Ecletic & Quirky
We arrived early on Friday morning to a completely deserted compound. After a phone call to the main office (which was not on premises) we tried the front door to find it open. The building was rather dark & no one was there. It was weirdly comfortable. I went looking to make coffee in the kitchen, when my wife called out it ready in the dining room. That was when she was struck by the idea that this place was what heaven must be like(who would doubt that heaven must be eclectic, comfortable & well used.) The rest of the stay was very much adlib. One evening we brought some friends back to the place before going to dinner in the neighborhood(plenty of very good places within walking distance.) There was a wedding going & we wanted to stay out of the way. I asked one of the girls if there was any wine & was offered a large bottle of decent quality red. To which I replied 5 glasses please. The glasses came with a cork screw & we made ourselves comfortable. Breakfasts where wonderful!!!
Traveller's tip on dining
There is an excellent Brazillian Stake House, a fine Thai eatery & a Brasseri about 4 blocks from the place. Cab rides when you can get them are $10.00 to or from the convention center. We used the lite rail which was a bit of an adventure, & a good deal of walking, but it made our stay much more in depth & like living in the place.
