Good base for exploring York...
Although the hotel was a bit dated, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was really lovely - great black pudding. We had a very enjoyable and confortable stay. Brilliant location for exploring York.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Pre-book your visit’s to attrations your save pounds. We wouldn’t recommend the civil war re-enactment, very expensive to get in and apart from the civil war bit there’s little else to see or get any food. Ghost walk from the river very good... a must is Betty’s teas shop.

Great Service But No Hot Water
This was a comfortable hotel with fantastic service but unfortunately there was not hot water for my morning shower. Aside from that I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Fantastic breakfast

Very good location but needs updating
Booked this hotel when going to the races - very good location and nice place to stay but in desparate need of renovating as was very old fashioned
