Above the standard
Keeping in mind that Hilton Chambers is a Hostel intended for backpackers and students, it offers very good value for money, friendly staff and good comfort. Although certainly not a "Hilton" (the hostel got its name from the location on Hilton Street) its far nicer than many british greasyspoon-hotels. There is not much luxury on offer, however toast and tea are for free in the self-catering kitchens and some items such as poweradaptors, earplugs or tv remotes are availible for a small charge or deposit at the reception

Great budget place
The Hilton Chambers Hostel was a great place to stay. My boyfriend and I only stayed for 1 night but it was a good experience. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. There seem to be a courtyard to eat in. The room was clean, large and very comfy bed, and nicely decorated for a hostel. We had a private room with a large ensuite bathroom and were supplied with fresh clean towels - this is very unusual for a hostel and a nice surprise. We were also given access to a "secret" kitchen - this kitchen was not kept up as it depended on others to clean up after their own messes and many had not done so. But this kitchen and the public kitchen offered free coffee, tea and toast with jam so it more than made up for it - we were leaving very early in the morning and could access them at any hour of the day. The room overlooked the street which was nice. Unfortunately we were there during a heatwave so we had to leave the window open since there was not any a/c, which made it a bit noisy since the area has many restaurants, bars and shops around. But the best places are just a few feet away! Because of its great location, it was not a big deal that neither of the 2 TVs in the room seem to work - we were too busy exploring Manchester!
