Crampus campus
My wife and I chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Uni halls of residence where our son is staying. very convenient location for this application and quite easy to get to the City centre by frequent and cheap bus services. Reception was not good, a surly and unwelcoming operative at the desk - no smiles or even attrempts to make us welcome. I would say it was OK for 1 night but wouldnt want to stay any longer. Although a double room, it was incredibly small, designed for one person but certainly cramped for 2. The room was also way too hot and we had no control of the heating.

Good value for money
I was fairly impressed with this hotel. I just wanted a cheap and cheerful bed for the night, and this more than fit the bill. As it is a conference hotel, the staff were understandably ultra polite and very helpful. The room itself was, as I have read others say, a little on the small side. I had booked a double room, and it had a lovely and very comfortable double bed, but very little room around the bed! There was a decent sized desk (with an lcd tv on it) and chair, and that consumed much of the remaining available space. I can understand that if there were two of you, it may be a little cramped - but even so, if youre literally just there to sleep and arent planning to spend much time in the room itself, it would still be fine. The bathroom was quite small, with a bathtub and shower head over it, but again, how much space do you need?! The hotel itself was a little dated in areas, but nothing too disastrous. Everywhere was certainly very clean, which is the main thing for me. Overall - not a good choice for a romantic getaway (but Im sure you wouldnt choose the Manchester University campus for that) but an ideal value choice.
