This is an excellent hotel. You could not be any more central to China Town. Whilst staying here you must at night time sample the fish at T&K 2 mins from the hotel entrance. However i found the area to be extremely hectic so not somewhere you would want to stay for a long time. The hotel itself is very interesting and extremely enjoyable. The staff are lovely. The room was perfect and had the largest bed i have ever seen and im 6ft tall! The breakfast awful though.
ALWAYS ask for the taxi on meter. Rarely ever believe a Thai in the street / taxi driver that somewhere is closed. If you are going to a restaurant and the taxi driver suggests somewhere else just say you are meeting friends, they wont try to take you somewhere else! Right down the telephone number for your hotel should the taxi driver not know where it is (from airport) al other times take a hotel card

A niche in the heart of Bangkoks Chinatown
What a fantastic hotel. Shanghai Mansion was perfect for my short stay (3 nights) in Bangkok. Decor throughout is beautiful. Rooms are large enough, and the price is great. Great showers in the bathrooms also. Breakfast buffet was very satisfying, with a broad selection of hot and cold choices. Friendly, attentive staff, who are very helpful with organising taxis, tuk-tuks and my sightseeing both day and night. Security is excellent also. Great location and only 5 minutes walk to Hua Lamphong railway/subway station. The only minus point was they forgot my wake-up call.
Great street food on the corner just to the right of the hotel entrance.
