When faced with...where should I stay for a day or two?
Decent hotel as far as Euro style hotels go in that part of the world. Somewhat small rooms. About $40 taxi ride from the airport. Call them to arrange pickup if you are not at all familiar with the area. A ten minute walk to the metro. A solid half hour walk to the main shopping/eating/drinking areas. For not knowing anything the first time it wasn’t bad at all. I’d stay closer to the center of town next time, just not to have to walk so far at the end of a night of fun. Single guys - The women in Kiev are the hottest on this planet. You will want a week there to enjoy yourself.

The Hotel Lybid provides everything the average traveller needs. However, there was a issue of limited /only in the mornings hot water.....

Don’t pay more than 300Hg for transportation to and from the airport to downtown Kiev.

Good from far, but FAR from good!
The website was nice and promising. I e-mailed the manager several times in advance concerning a special "romantic" room, and other transfer services provided by Hertz. The manager and front hotel staff were professional and helpful, and they spoke English well. However, the "romantic" room was not what was advertised on their website! The other standard rooms were not up to par either: the bed sheets and comforter did not fit the bed and there was no hot water one night (out of 3). The Hertz manager (for transfers) was extremely rude and unprofessional, not to mention ridicuously over-priced! Choose a taxi, bus, or metro while there! The only real positive aspect of this hotel was the breakfast (included) and their staff! Dinner is over-priced as well! If I visit Kiev again, I will NOT stay here!

Unfortunately, this is one of the cheaper hotels there. The nicer hotels were much more expensive!
