Hotel excellent, apartments less so.
Arrived late to find that a meal had been kept for us. Were taken to a ground floor apartment that was cramped, in need of refurbishment, smelled of damp and was near the kitchens. Not good! Next morning at reception we were moved without question into a very nice room in the main hotel. All the staff are very helpful, everywhere is spotlessly clean and the food is good. Swimming pool is large and very nice (also children’s and indoor pools). The shuttle bus to the beach is very useful - every half hour during the day. We will certainly go again, if possible outside the school holidays.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
There is little need to hire a car as the bus services on the island are excellent and not expensive. The hotel shuttle bus drops you off at the Son Bou bus stop. Take the bus from there to the Mahon bus station and get timetables from there - note that there are three separate bus companies so you need to get all three timetables if you plan to cover the whole island. The taxi to and from the airport was 28 euros.

Nice Hotel
Hotel is at the very top of a hill so would not be that suitable for those who do not like climbing. The hotel does provide a minibus service down to the beach though. Generally the food was ok but we did notice a slight decline in the choice as the days went on.

Nice coastal walk. Beach very safe and clean and lifegaurds on duty.
