no private bathroom

That there was no private bathroom was the main surprise for me. As a non-smoker the cigarette smoke in the hall has disturbed me. Other than that betting was changed daily, breakfast was satisfactory and location is also fine.

Not Worth It

Looking for a hotel in London at a short notice, two days, I came across Anson Hotel as the cheapest non-dormitory hotel available on the site. I was very pleased with the price and requested a twin room for my friend and I. Upon arrival the receptionist was abrupt and churned off a spiel about breakfast times and leaving your key at reception, and sounded strict and accusatory, making us feel uncomfortable from the first instance. When we arrived in the room, there was a double bed and, although the sheets appeared clean and pressed, the shower head was snapped from the stand and there was hair clogged in a circle on top of the plughole which could have been easily removed by a cleaner. Coffee and tea was provided, but this establishment could do with spending a little more time and money making the other requirements of a hotel up to a reasonable standard. I may be biased because I work in a 4-star hotel, but it’s not hard to see this business is too fragile to cut important corners.

If your standards are low enough, this hotel is perfect for visiting Camden, and no changes are required for the tube lines to Embankment and Covent Garden which makes everything feel like it’s on your doorstep.

It works

The room was small, drab, but clean. The walls are need of painting. But the room was functional. The linens were clean, the shower was clean as was the bathroom. My friend was not pleased, but for her slumming is staying at a Holiday Inn Express. I’d stay there again if the price doesn’t go up.
