Not at all impressed
Booked a sea-view, arrived very late and on opening curtains found street view. Requested a credit for the price difference, was told no credit and admitted Expedia booking was correct and I was paying for their mistake. After speaking to duty-manager, told the same and I suggested a complimentary breakfast but was told it was not possible. So, this is the only hotel Ive stayed in 20 years that expects its customers to pay for their mistakes. They told me they would email me - so far no communication.

Small Rooms at a Premium Price
The location is fantastic and the staff is helpful but the rooms arent worth the price. Be aware that breakfast is charged Automatically every morning (at a substantial rate even for euros) regardless if you partook of it or not. They were helpful in removing the charges but its simply foolish in this day and age to do this. The seaview rooms are advertised with a balcony. Dont let the pictures fool you, it barely fits two small chairs. Being right next to the sea was great but all in all, Id prefer a larger room at a lower rate from a nearby hotel and simply walk to the beach (or tram) which is the norm for travel in Den Haag anyway.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Do see-- The beach of course Madurodam - a great Miniature city very near the beach Amsterdam - Take the Canal bus, you can hop on or off all day in various areas around Amsterdams waterways (Every major tourist point can be reached from these boats). A great deal thats worth the small price. Rijksmuseum - Dutch Masters art and musuem, dont miss the Night Watch by Rembrandt! Delft - if the blue and white pottery tickles your fancy The Hague- The world court

kurhaus hotel - faded glamour
the kurhaus is an iconic building in scheveningen which has been largely rebuilt over recent years, unfortunately the only original portion is the central section, housing the ornate and lovely kurzaal. the guestroom wings are dated, the circulation can be a bit complicated, and the surrounding buildings and public spaces leave a lot to be desired. however the beach is fun, and kurzaal bar is a nice place to have a drink and listen to the live piano music.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
a walk or cycle through the dunes is definately worth it!
