It’snot a bad hotel

The Sofitel in Fiji is conveniently situated about 20 minutes from the airport, sharing it’s location with a number of other 4/5 star hotels. It is also conveniently located near the harbour, which has a number of boat trips to see some of the islands. It didn’t live up to the Sofitel brand, though the hotel was clean and of reasonably good facilities. It also didn’t have a "french flavour" which the Sofitel is known for. Unlike a number of other hotels, it did not have "adult only" swimming pools, which, given the number of families there, it sadly missed. It’s "fine dining" restaurant was also not as good as some of the other top hotels, for example the Inter-continental in the south of the Island and the Sheraton which was a few minutes walk from the Sofitel. We were especially irritated to have to move bedrooms the night before departing, as there was a party outside on the grass, which had loud music for most of the night. We would have rated the hotel higher, had it not been for this. Overall, the Sofitel is pretty good, though if you can afford it, I would recommend the Sheraton as a nicer hotel to stay in..

Nothing special

We misread this hotel to be 5 star so our own fault that our expectations fell short. We had to move rooms twice as they had messed up our bookings - not a positive start. The superior rooms are let down by the paltry bath tub. In fact it looked like the money had run out by the time they got to the bathroom. I particularly liked the hand me down shower curtain covered with lint! Dinner was lovely after we finally got our mains from Salt (we sent our mains back as they starting bringing our mains to the table when half our party hadn’t finished their starters). Our transfer to the airport was handled well. If you’re in the family market and are not fussed on accommodations than there is value to be found here. If you’re after something more classier than look elsewhere.

Excellent Find

Family oriented resort. Very enjoyable hotel, staff, and amenities. The entire staff were very friendly and most helpful. The overall condition of the hotel and grounds was impressive. Food service was good, although the evening buffet was overpriced. Other food choices were very good value for money. We will stay there again.
