Decent hotel very close to main train station
The hotel was a convenient walk from Mainz Hbf station, and located a few blocks outside of the older part of the city. Room and hotel were clean, though furniture, carpet and fixtures were older and a bit worn. Staff was friendly, helped us with English maps and directions. Breakfast was excellent. Did not use the restaurant for dinner, but they served some nice wines at the bar.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Mainz was fun to explore on its own, but also served as a good base for excursions into the Rhine River valley. Unlike many of the villages along the Rhine, Mainz has a direct train to FRA airport, takes less than 40 minutes.

A wonderful treasure in Mainz
I have traveled right much in Germany recently, and the Advena Europa Hotel in Mainz was a wonderful surprise. It is about two blocks from the train and bus station. The ability to catch a bus to the Old Town was great. I think it would be walkable, but the busses were very convenient and extremely safe.. Breakfast was every morning and was very nice. I ate dinner many nights and it was great. I felt like this hotel was family and I will definitely go back to stay there. A very nice experience!
