friendly reception staff
the location of this hotel is good, close to the cable car up to the town and beautiful views of the island of isola bella. the reception staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. although it looked like we had stepped into the 1970/80s when entering the hotel- lots of dark oak everywhere including the bedroom! there is a free shuttle bus down to a local beach, and a charge of 6 euros each for sun chairs- but lots of jelly fish anyone who went in the water quickly came out, but if you want to sunbathe it is fine!! it may be worth paying the extra few euros for one of the beaches in front of the hotel- jelly fish free possibly!! the pool is a good size and located on a raised level at the back of the hotel. parking is hard to find as this area is very popular with tourists so if you find a space dont move and hope your wing mirrors are still on when you get back. we had a great sea view and discovered that there was a firework display at night. would have been disappointed with one of the back rooms as the view would have been the hanging laundry!
the main drag of the town can be expensive to eat, but there are plenty of good quality restaurants just as you come into the town- tip often the food may appear reasonable but check the wine prices as this seemed a ploy of lots of the restaurants on the main drag- good priced food and over priced wine!

Comfortable and reliable...
I think that rooms were renewed..at least our standard triple room was very clean and lookin new..the staff was very helpful, kind and friendly..the breakfast is buffet-style and much acceptable regarding other places we lodged.. So, you may stay there w/o hesitate..

Not the best place to stay in Taormina
Isola Bella Hotel is situated on a busy road, with a railway line across the road. My room faced onto the road so I hardly slept a wink. It is also right at the bottom of the hillside, so is either a long and arduous climb up to Taormina (not ideal in the heat of summer), or you have to catch the cable car every time. Staff are friendly enough but thats about it.
