Very good - simple but nice
Hotel is in the middle of centre of town - which can get very rowdy with drinkers at the weekends but hotel doesnt seem to get any of the noise. Hotel is simple but clean and staff are very friendly. Only gripe is that it is rather hot in the hotel - we had the AC running at its lowest temp all night long in September! Definitely would stay here again.
Traveller's tip on nightlife
Avoid Friar Street at weekends if you dont like young loud crowds - pubs get very packed

Good location for Reading festival
If you dont want to slum it in tents then the Novotel is a good find; it is about 15 minutes walk from the festival and is very comfortable.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Eat out for Breakfast - the hotel is too expensive!

When in Reading I always stay here
Great hotel. The pool, steam room and sauna are a great plus. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a great central location. I dont stay anywhere else these days.
