Good location, nice and modern hotel, rooms on the small side

The only thing I didn’t like is that the duvets on the bed were too thin considering it was -5 outside. These were two single duvets (which is quite common in Hungary) however when we asked for an extra blanket all we got was another single duvet so we just put it at the end of the bed but still somehow it wasn’t warm enough so in the end we put the heating up to max in the room. Apart from this nice hotel in a great location.

Lovely hotel close to tourist sites and public transport

A lovely, intimate hotel 10 minutes walk from Vorosmarty Square and close to public transport. It is misleading in the hotel write up to state that there are tea/coffee facilities in rooms as this did not apply to standard rooms. Fortunately I took my own kettle. Buffet breakfast very adequate and well presented. Either the walls are very thin or other people are just plain noisy!

Not really a ’boutique hotel’, but decent place

Friendly staff, tastefully furnished, modern and clean, but i wouldn’t call it a boutique hotel as such – more of a well-designed mid-range hotel. It’s just off the main shopping street in Pest and close to the Great Market Hall. Also close to a bridge for easy access to Buda. There’s wireless internet in the lobby and bar.

Choked on the cigarette smoke

Only place in the hotel w/ wireless access is in the lobby. That’s OK if you don’t mind gasping for fresh air--there is nowhere you can escape the cigarette smoke!

Great Hotel and Location

The hotel was situated perfectly between the Market Hall and the "walking street". After our delicious included breakfast we started out on foot and never needed a taxi! Fantastic dining selections close to the hotel. Would highly recommend it.

We went "off-season" so there were no lines, no trouble getting in a restaraunt(but make sure you have reservations even if they are not busy otherwise you will sit in the smoking section). Our hotel was happy to make reservations for us. We could even get last minute tours, etc.

"Very Impressive"

This was our first visit to Budapest and we were very pleased we chose this hotel. The staff was attentive, polite and friendly. In addition they could speak English very well. Our room was a little cramped but comfortable and we were out sightseeing a lot so it served it’s purpose when we got back. At times it got a little warm but we were able to open the window. It also took a little getting used to the shower having no door only a glass panel about a third of the way. I was very happy with the free internet service which made it possible to share photo’s with family and friends back home. The breakfast buffet was very good and they have a nice selection, but it’s better to get there real early or after nine o’clock to avoid crowds. We didn’t use the cafe or bar only to pick up ice. Nice quiet location, but you don’t have to walk far to get to the trams, Great National Market, shops, coffee houses and some very nice restaurants.

Wonderful, neat, clean and comfortable

This was a well located hotel for visiting Budapest. It was well versed on American use. Breakfast had a wide selection of foods and great coffee, self usage. Enough English was spoken to accomadate our needs. We would use this hotel again.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Easy access to all of Budapest. We walked everywhere.

An excellent choice for location and overall quality

We would certainly go for a return stay. It was top quality in every way and the location was quiet but close to public transportation and easy to access many parts of the city.

Most pleased

Hotel Zara met all my expectations and needs. The free internet in my room worked well (you need your own ethernet cable), it was quiet, and the breakfast each day was ample and tasty. The front desk noticed that it was my birthday and surprised me with some nice chocolate cake in my room. Easy drop off/pick up via the airport shuttle too. The location worked for me, having to walk across the Green Bridge each day for my meeting. Just a nice place to stay.

Perfect rest spot in a hot Budapest summer.

My Spouse and I stayed 8 nights in July/August and though the room was small it was so comfortable and quiet we felt it was a perfect respite from the 32-35 degree C busy streets.

Good choice for a city break

Good location close to sights, metro, trams, market and plenty of restaurants. Can walk to most places. Room was a bit on the small side but was clean and quite adequate. Breakfast was fine - reasonable buffet selection and good coffee. Very helpful staff who all spoke English.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

From the airport, buy two public transport tickets from the Relay newsagent and catch Bus 200E to the end of the Metro then Blue metro line to Kalvin ter, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Total 540 Forints, much cheaper than other options.

Nice little hotel

Close to the turisty part of Pest, rooms clean and recent, breakfast included.

Traveller's tip for business travellers

If you need to wake up early, you might want to call the reception for a phone wakeup, as the integrated TV/Alarm watch is fiddly, and you might end up "waking up" (or not) to the TV turning on without sound.

Good deal

Budapest is a very spread out city so expect to walk everywhere, but this hotel was less than 100m away from the Central Markets, but we still had to walk to most places and had to catch the train to the baths (although there were closer ones). The rooms were really small and the breakfast area could be better laid out, but all the important things like cleanliness and service, could not be faulted.

Excellent location, beautiful rooms

Lovely place to stay. The rooms looked great and were comfortable, the food was always tasty, the staff were polite and we were overall very impressed. Location-wise, it was ideal. There were many restaurants close by, some cheap, others not so much. Also a tram stop 2 mins away and a metro station 5 mins walk away, as well as a 24 hour shop very close. All in all, a great hotel in a great location. Highly recommmended.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Research how to get to your hotel from the airport before you fly. We used public transport instead of a taxi, and while this maybe took us about 10 mins longer than otherwise, it was a fraction of the cost. Just make sure you do your research first to make it as easy and problem free as possible.

Zara Hotel

Ideal position for the hotel, close to great bars and restaurants, walking distance to the Danube, National Museum (which is a must if you want to learn about the Hungarian people and their history) and also the metro. Rooms are cosy and have all the necessary essentials.....except a bath. After a huge days walking up the hills of Buda and surrounding areas a shower just doesn’t suffice. Breakfast had the bear essentials but it does the job in the morning to get you started.....there are plenty of places to eat for an alternative though. All in all you can’t go too wrong with this hotel if you intend to use it as a base to enjoy the city.

Traveller's tip on dining

Lukas oppsite the Basillica is a must for their goulash. Borsso is a great restaurant with exceptional food, great value and superb jazz guitarist to ease you through your meal.

Great stay with a reasonable price tag

The hotel was very clean and modern with friendly and helpful staff. The room was a little on the small side and you could hear the next room’s alarm. This was a bit annoying if you wanted to lie a little. Breakfast was fine with a good choice. In a great location really close to river and shops.

Traveller's tip on nightlife

Try the Irish Fat Cat (5 mins walk) for a lively drinks. Or the two guys singing Hungarian covers of English songs in the For Sale Bar round the corner, highly reccomended.

Extremely warm and friendly

The hotel was wonderful. I was completely amazed by the friendliness and warmth of the staff. The hotel has an extremely relaxed atmosphere and we were most touched by the birthday cake delivered to our room!!!! The only downside would be the chaotic breakfast but once we got the hang of that, couldn’t really complain.

Traveller's tip on dining

Try the Fatal restaurant, not far from the hotel. A fantastic menu, wonderful atmopshere and incredible servings! Real value for money!
