As good as it gets
We checked reviews of this hotel before we booked, so our expectations were high. There were some small disappointments. Our room at the rear was below the level of the road, so our view of the tower was limited to its top! Finding a handy power socket was a struggle. When will European hotels wake up to the need to charge mobile phones and the like? The absence of tissues was strange in a hotel of this class. These trivial points illustrate just how hard it is to fault the Corallo. Everything else was excellent. Our room, not large but adequate, was modern and immaculate, with a beautiful full bathroom. The rest of the hotel was the same, including the public rooms and toilets. The staff went out of their way to give impeccable service. The food, limited in choice but changing every night, was delicious. Sardinian prices are high by our standards, but the hotels were in line with the competition, and we ate in most nights. Dinner on the terrace at sunset was up there with our most memorable holiday experiences. When we discussed a visit to Corsica on the ferry, Giovanna even checked with the ferry office to confirm the sailing time before we set off. If you want a relaxing, romantic holiday for two, you wont find a better place. But ask for an upper floor!
There arent many other restaurants in the village, and they didnt impress us. If you have a car, the Geranio, just a mile or so left on the main road to Santa Teresa, is worth a visit. Go early to watch the sunset and the view over Isola Rossa.

Fabulous hotel in great resort
We really enjoyed our stay in Corallo. The owners of the hotel were extremely friendly and obliging however we sometimes didnt get the same warm, fuzzy feeling from the staff. I would definitely recommend staying in a room with a sea view. We stayed in a room without a sea view at the back of the hotel and while it was a lovely room it had a really small balcony without chairs so we couldnt sit out on it and relax. Having said that the hotel has a great bar/pool area!! The room also had a safe which was a bonus to keep valuables in. Isola Rossa is a great resort with a beach, marina, restaurants & a couple of shops.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
You definitely without a doubt need a car to get around the island. We didnt have any problems parking and in most places it was free. We also invested in a cheap umbrella and two folder out chairs (so we could leave them at the end of the trip) which we kept in the boot and used when we went to the beaches. Saves you from hiring them.
