Terrific Staff, Uncomfy Room
PRO: The hotel itself was very well maintained, clean, and within easy walking distance of subway station. The staff were absolute stars, responding cheerfully and promptly to all requests. CON: Unfortunately, the bed in my room was extremely hard and uncomfortable (and I sleep on a thin futon at home!). Also be aware that ("four stars" or not) the rooms are NOT air-conditioned. This made things very unpleasant in August.

Enjoyable stay in Berlin
Had 5 great days in Berlin as a surprise for my husband’s 50th birthday; he had served there in the Army in the 70’s when the wall was still up. Loved the city so much to do and see, and we didn’t manage to see all that we wanted, so a return visit is on the cards. The hotel Winter’s Hotel Berlin Mitte Am Checkpoint Charlie was in a great location and made it so easy for access around the city. Staff were polite and helpful and rooms cleaned daily to a high standard, they were also (ours was anyway) very big and comfortable. The only downside I would say the lack of air conditioning, but that is only a minor detail as I would definitely stay there again. Didn’t have breakfast in the hotel but found a lovely little cafe round the corner called Delicious and they certainly were. The city and hotel I would both highly recommend.
