Best View in Taormina
The hotels 1960s architecture doesnt sit very well in Taormina but all rooms have the most spectacular views down the coast and of Etna. Stunning. A bit generous to give it 4 stars - three and a half would be nearer the mark. A breathless climb up from the Corso Umberto, so any thoughts of passion need acting upon before going out for dinner - as you certainly wont have the energy by the time you get back!
Taormina is not really suitable for young children. Very chic and quite expensive - definitely for big boys and girls.

Not entirely happy
The staff were helpful and attentive, except the restaurant waiters, but the Hotel Mediteranee is in desparate need of a major refit. It was built in 1960 and clearly very little has been done to keep it up to date or in line with the competition. Ideal for admirers of 1960s period fixtures and fittings. Shame there was a charge for the towels on the hotels beach at the Lido. Great view of the island and of Mt Etna from the rooms balcony.
