Would recommend to anyone

This hotel was well above our expectations - it is excellent value for money being very comfortable and about a 10 minute walk to the old town through beautiful parks. There was nothing they could have done or had there to make our stay any better

Recommended

The hotel is within an impressive looking historical building opposite a park. The old centre of Riga is within approximately 10 minutes walking distance along pleasant, architecturally distinct roads. Our room was clean, modern and a very good size. We had a lovely view of the park and the layout of the room was very nice, and a pleasant surprise. The amenities are good, although not luxurious (keeping broadly within the 4* rating of the hotel). Towels are white, new and clean although a little lightweight. There is no ironing board and our request to have one at a relatively late hour produced no results. Similarly, I ran out of toothpaste and the reception desk had none in stock. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of buffet choices including local produce such as good warm bread, fresh sliced meats and cheese as well as other options such as pancakes, bacon etc. Overall I would reccomend the hotel for the price/value combination we recieved.

The occupation museum if you have any interest in the history of Latvia and its relationship with the Great powers

lovely rooms and views

I stayed in the Monika Centrum with my boyfriend in July 07. we had just got off a 12hr train from Russia and were absolutely delighted with the hotel. It overlooks a lovely park, it’s round the corner from streets full of Art Nouveau architecture and the rooms are clean bright and luxurious. It is also far enough from the old town (10 mins walk) to be peaceful at night. Could not recommend it more highly as staff are also very patient and accommodating.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Could not recommend it more highly & next door is the great restaurant ’Vincents’ whose chef is the president of the Slow Food movement in Lativa. Get the beef and truffle carpaccio! Also, If it’s sunny get the bus or train to Jurmala Majori and go to the beach - 25 mins and approx 30p fare.
