Good for a short stay

The hotel staff was excellent; polite and accomodating. The roomshowever, were very small, but cozy. Only one elevator, and stairs were very narrow and spiral, making maneuvering them difficult. Bathrooms very clean, but small. Not much room for toiletries; had to keep them either in cosmetic bag or at end of tub. Excellent location, close to Union Square and to bus and cable lines. I would definitely go back if for a short stay - 2 or 3 nights; for a longer stay, I would like more space, especially in the bathroom.

Great for quick business trip in the city

I selected the King George based on location - walking distance to both BART and the conference I was attending (not at the Moscone, but at PG&E’s headquarters about a mile away), price and free wireless internet access. Was perfect for my 2 night stay. No hassles or problems. I just need a clean, comfortable room with internet access, and I’m happy. Yes, the rooms are on the small side, but not uncomfortably so, and the plumbing was a bit noisy, but nothing major. Plenty of restaurants in the area - I tried Dojima-Ann for dinner, a Japanese place around the corner and the Pinecrest Diner across the street for breakfast, both reasonable - and 2 Starbucks also right around the corner, and Walgreens seemingly everywhere for picking up water and snacks. Would probably be a good base for a leisure trip as well, the location and access to all the public transportation options (BART, bus, cable car etc.) being excellent.

Good Stay At Union Square

We went to stay at Union Square. It was exactly what we expected. The hotel room was fine, The elevator was small, but I’ve seen smaller. The hetel room had twin beds, and they sloped slightly toward the center of the room, but they were ok to sleep on. And, of course it was San Francisco, so there were plenty of places to eat.

We ate one night at Tiramisu, an Italian restaurant. It is a great place to eat. Not too expensive, and a lot of fun. Plenty of other restaurants in the same alley. I recommend the area highly, and that particular restaurant highly also.
