Cannes Boat Show 2009
We travel a lot, but the service at the Hotel Martinez was by far the best we have experienced in many years. Its not cheap and the dining is expensive (although everywhere in Cannes is expensive) but thje quality of the staff shone through. KLM had lost our luggage enroute and the concierge was very effective at getting it delivered to our room as soon as possible.
Traveller's tip on dining
Breakfast in most Cannes hotels is Euro 35 but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants that offer a very good breakfast for less than Euro 15.

Martinez charges extra to use its own pool and again for its beach
Stayed at the martinez last week in august 2009, hotel charges extra per person per day to use its own swimming pool and extra per person per day to use its private beach and its not cheap even by cannes standards !. its food prices are sky high even for cannes. even the concierge charged an extra 8 euros for making a phone call to book a boat to st tropez for us. also added significant extra costs onto our bill, which when we queried they took off, with no apology from samir at receiption. nice hotel, however terrible value for money, compared to other 5 star hotels. you would be much better of staying at the carlton.
Traveller's tip on dining
Dont use the hotel restaurant the palm dor, unless you want a very very expensive night go up to commandnte andre which is a 5 min walk away, lots of quality restaurants at a fraction of the price. Avoid room service, sky high prices.

Looking forward to returning to this hotel!
On arrival, the attendants were very welcoming and helpful. After checking-in, we were invited to enjoy complimentary drink by the poolside as we waited for our room. The services thereafter was outstanding. They provided me with everything that I asked for and even a transformer or step-down device for my hair straightner, lol.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Arrive on a weekday and stay thru the weekend:-) Sleep-in the first day. You can enjoy brunch across the street; enjoy the poolside. Talk a nice walk in the evening. Other days- Go shopping! and take tours! Enjoy the street market- but it closes by 12 noon...so, you will need to wake-up early on that day. dontt worry, if you dont like the food- you can easily find chinese, pizzeria, indian restuarants.
