Not 5 Star but Good Value for the Money
We went to Mitsis Rhodos Maris hotel for a family vacation in October with our 4 and 6 year-old boys. The hotel had a 5-Star rating on Expedia but, from our research, we knew it was probably more of a 2-3 Star. The reviews we read were accurate. The room decor was outdated and no ameneties but one bar of soap was provided in the bath. The hotel may have been 5 star when it first opened 15 years ago but it is quite worn now. That said and knowing it was not truly a 5 Star, the value for the money was quite good. As an all inclusive, for a family it was very good. Our little ones could choose their food each day and if you have a picky eater this is a good thing. The quality of food in the main dining room was good and the staff was very friendly. Also, the food at the Chinese, Greek, and Taverna restaurants (reservations required) were also good. The beach was clean albeit very rocky so it was painful on the feet. There were plenty of beach loungers available at the beach each day and many activities. We did not spend time at the pool nor did we take advantage of the children’s activities but we can say the space around the pool was a bit tight. All-in-all we felt the value for the money was good and, because we knew it was not 5 star, it met our expectations.
Rent a car from the hotel and go to Lindos (20 minutes) and old Rhodos (1.5 hours). Lindos is typical greek with white buildings in the main town and many shops and restaurants. Also, if you have children then take the donkey ride to the acropolis. It’s fun and the views are beautiful. Old Rhodos is very historic, albeit very touristy. The walled city has beautiful architecture as well as many shops and restaurants.

Everyone at the hotel was extremeley polite and helpful, all inclusive package was excellent value for money.

Absolutely Fantastic
I had the best time at this hotel. The people were lovely, the hotel was spotlessly clean and there was loads to do. The only fault I would have would be the opportunity to have 2 restuarants available for breakfast. There were 2 restaurants for lunch and 3 for dinner, but another breakfast possibility would be perfect.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Get a donkey ride up to the accropolypse in Lindos. It is only 2pounds per person on the bus from right outside the hotel to Lindon and the donkey ride is 5pounds per person. Don’t bother getting a donkey ride back down, where they will catch you for another 5pounds, the walk down is very short and quite nice.
