Willing to go back
A nice on the eye hotel, rooms a tad out dated but nothing serious. Comfortable bed with a nice sized bathroom. Dinner and bar area well laid out. leisure facilities good. Only downer was the price of the 24 hour menu, however this is common in most hotels. Close to a retail park and only a small drive away from all other attractions.
Colchester zoo approx 10 min drive away which was nice. The tip i would offer is to dine out or either shop at the local Sainsburys and buy your food for the night (and drink).

Mixed review
The hotel seemed lovely on arrival. Great room, in very pleasent grounds, although the shower was in need of modernisation. Reception very friendly. I used the gym which was good, with a nice pool. Unfortunatly the service was disapointing. I called for room service twice with no answer. I also requested breakfast in my room by hanging an order card on my door the previous evening as requested. When I woke up the order card was still there, so took a trip to McDonalds!

good location
hotel is better inside than it look from out side .The rooms are small but have every thing you need I would stay there again.A few miles from colchester but only a small drive away.Road noise could be a problem for a light sleeper but did not both me
The hotel restuarant served a well presented stake at a fair price £15
