Past it’s Prime

Though I’m sure once very beautiful, it is badly in need of a facelift and maintenance. We stayed in the Banyu Biru Villas and we were not happy with the cleanliness of upkeep. There was a musty, moldy smell that hit us when we walked in. The covers on the beds were dirty, and smelly. We called housekeeping to get replacement for the master bedroom and they brought us one that was damp and smelled of mildew. We called back and they brought another that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The mold in the shower was disgusting. It was all the way around the tub and the bamboo shade covering the shower window was black with mold. The upholstery on the living room furniture and the area carpet was very dirty. It was difficult to relax. The pool area was okay. The tiles in the pool could stand a good scrubbing, but there were plenty of chairs and umbrellas available. The beaches were nice. They were clean and the water was shallow very far out, which was nice for our small kids. They did not have any chairs or umbrellas on the beach. The restaurants at the resort were disappointing. The main Cafe was okay. Most people seemed to be eating there, so the food was more fresh. We ate at two other restaurants and the food was stale, freezer burned and not good. Everything was very pricey, even more than Singapore. There is no town nearby to shop at a market for food at a more reasonable price. We did not, therefore, utilize the kitchen in the villa. You are at the mercy of the resort.

Bring lots of snacks and food to the resort so you can make your own meals is desired. There was a life sized chess game and Chutes and Ladders game on the bottom floor by the Cafe. Our kids had a great time playing there.
