Close to everything "down under"

The Marriott on College Street in Sydney was fantastic. The staff was courteous, prompt and always smiled and said "Hi" daily. I thought the hair dryer was missing and called the front desk. I later found it in the closet, but the hotel staff already sent up a brand new dryer for us to use. The hotel is within walking distance of all the sights (Chinatown, Paddys Market, the Rocks, the Opera House, restaurants and coffee shops). If you’re not one for walking you can catch the Hop on Hop off site seeing buses or catch the monorail which is only a few blocks away. Great shopping areas and eating areas close by. We had a fantastic time while we were in Sydney and at the Marriott on College Street (there are 2 Marriotts in Sydney)

Gracious Service!

The first room I was given was not impressive. One bed when there were three of us! The view was nothing but hotels. Plus the AC wasn’t working correctly. Finally the next day they moved us to the other side on a different floor. Two beds and the view was fantastic! We could see center point (largest building in Sydney) and the park! The people that work there are absolutely wonderful. They always asked if they could improve our stay. They always greeted us. I completely enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Now if you want to go to the Sydney Opera house and you don’t mind walking, then this is the place for you. We saw the other Marriot hotel and it looked like you would see nothing but buildings vs. the park at our Marriot. So it’s up to you with what you want out of Sydney. Have a great trip! :)

Sydney is expensive. If you love food..I would look elsewhere. Their food isn’t the best. One breakfast for three people cost $110.00. A packet of ketchup at McDonalds is 30 cents per. I saw a ton of people with backpacks and I bet you their food was in it. A can of coke is $3.50. Most of the time I couldn’t even stomach some of the things I tried. Woolworth’s is cheaper than any other grocery store I saw. Oh! They do have starbucks there but if you go to Gloria Jeans..be careful! One of the workers gave my mom sour milk and said that’s how they have their coffee. Not true! My Aussie friend even told her she was lying. I’m not saying they’re all like that, just be careful. Drink plenty of water. They always give small glasses and a few cubes of ice. I made the biggest mistake by not drinking enough water. Drink plenty of Vit. C! I got so sick! If you go to the Casino..they asked for my passport. Um no sorry, my passport stays in the safe. So we left. They wouldn’t accept my driver’s license..but it would be different if I was 25. All I could do was laugh. I just wish you luck. It can be fun but it can be a total mess.
