Nice old fashioned hotel

Hotel is in great location 1/2 block to Marleybone High Street. Lobby is decorated old fashioned style with oversize leather chairs. Room is small and bathroom is "European" -- i.e. bathtub with slightly broken shower. Elevator is very small and slow. But everything is clean and functional. Great value on Expedia compared to fancier hotels.

Adequate

The Durrant is a nice hotel, very traditional, good service, but is showing it’s age. Having said that, the public rooms are very nice and the neighborhood is convenient for the tube, shopping and cental London. It requires a re-furbish to be competitive with newer London hotels that charge about the same amount of money.

Traditional comfort

The staff were a delight - polite and helpful on every level. Rooms are comfortable and relaxing - but very traditional. No arty lamps and wallpaper here, thankfully. Good quality bathrooms. First class English breakfast. Sandwiches in the George bar very disappointing. Ask for room with air conditioning in summer, but in winter it will be very cosy. Well placed - 5 mins walk to Oxford St and 2 mins to Marylebone High Street.
