Hotel Restaurant Schuetzen Lautrbrunnen

The typical Swiss chalet hotel is located in the heart of Lauterbrunnen, a three-minute walk from the train station and has a bus stop at the front door. Not forgetting the spectacular views of the mountain, the Jungfrau, with the Silberhorn peak plus ‘Goethe’s’ waterfall, the Staubbach. Furthermore our hotel is in the area made famous by Sir Arnold Lunn and James Bond and at the end of the 15km Schilhorn-Mürren-Lauterbrunnen ski run. In the winter you can almost ski straight into your freshly-made bed! The world famous 311 meter Staubbach waterfall, which was mentioned in Goethe’s poem ‘Gesang der Geister über den Wassern’, can be seen very close to our house. In the summer a unique experience awaits you. Mürren and Wengen are also easy to reach. The hotel Schützen has its own bus stop so you do not even have to walk (3 minutes) to the station, if you do not want to. No other hotel in the village has this advantage. Another advantage is the numerous possibilities for coming back. From Grindelwald you can either ski back or take the train. From Mürren it is possible to ski back to the hotel or take the cable car from Grütschalp or Stechelberg.

Poorly maintained hotel -- ownership apathetic
Stayed in rooms 14 and 15. I wondered why 15 was so much cheaper and found out that it lacked a bathroom (you had to share with other rooms). Bed spring was broken and it gouged my butt. Television would not work without remote control and remote control never worked. Owners suggested I use the television in the other room. While the room was cleaned ok, the decor was really bad. I had a beautful view and balcony that was really nice. I would choose any other place to stay.

Personal touch
I had such an enjoyable time at this hotel! It is run by a wonderful family that is very warm and inviting. Their lobby is decorated with their family skiing and hunting trophies, adding a personal touch to the stay. I even met the family hunting spaniel! The family is great about giving you information about any outdoor activities in the area, especially hiking. The rooms are very cozy, with nice duvets on the beds. The breakfast in the morning is plentiful. You get a nice warm "Hello" from the matriarch of the family most mornings when she makes her way into the breakfast room. All in all, this is a wonderful hotel!

Great place. Wish we had more than 2 nights. Recommended
Arrived at the Shutuetzen at about 13.30 and the notice at reception stated checkin at 14.00 onwards so sat outside at the hotels resteraunt and had a spot of lunch. Food was superb!! and service very good. Went back to checkin at 14.00 Lovely room with beautiful view down the valley and lovely balcony protected from the poor weather. Twin beds, very comfortable with duvets! which was just like home (why do hotels have to have sheets and blankets?) Ensuite shower room was quiet small, but did the job. Evening meal in hotel resteraunt again superb. In conclusion. Lovely small hotel with very nice staff, excellent food, spectacular views and ideally situated for access to the whole region.
