Fine for families and those wanting queen-sized beds
This hotel caters to British families. Everything is written in English. We liked that we had a queen-sized bed. The apartment included a kitchenette (sink, hot plates, electric toaster, electric kettle, and refrigerator, plus pots, pans, silverware, cups, etc.). Food markets are within a short walking distance of the hotel. The apartments also ample closet space, a balcony, and a living room. The pool and kiddie pool looked nice and clean. The hotel also has restaurant and game room facilities. Caveats about the hotel: 1. Internet is available at the hotel on their computers at additional charge- no wireless. 2. The hotel has self-service laundry facilities (one washer and drier in the main building) for additional charge, but these don’t work as well as they should. Detergent and powdered fabric softener are included. 3. The hot water is solar-generated only and shared for each building (3-4 apartments). You may not have hot water if your neighbors used it all up. 4. The daytime receptionist was annoyed at our touristy questions about the local surroundings (e.g., parking in Iraklio). 5. The parking area is small and only suitable for loading and unloading- park by the beach (short walk). 6. Air conditioning is extra. 7. The windows lack wire screens to keep out mosquitoes. 8. A few nights there was music until 2 AM from neighboring resorts. 9. The hotel provides only liquid hand soap, toilet paper, and cloth towels- bring anything else usually available at hotels.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Free wireless internet was available from a restaurant along the beach road 0.5-1.0 km west of the hotel. The restaurant is 2 businesses to the east of an internet cafe (don’t go to the internet cafe for wireless, although it is a nice place to get a drink and relax). I forgot the name of the restaurant (Corali?) but the staff was friendly and the food was decent.
