Very good hotel

I stayed in 7 hotels during my recent trip to Australia, and this, in many ways was the best. The hotel is modern, spacious and very clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the views are very pleasant. The only drawbacks I found were that (golf course excepted) the hotel was remote from any centres of entertainment and the open (to the lobby) bar/restaurant area lacked any ambience. If you want a drink in the evening then the choice is get a cab or stay in the hotel, as the walk to anywhere would be more of a hike. I also found, for a decent sized holiday town in late spring, that Caloundra was quite "dead". There was no buzz to the place at all, despite numerous restaurants and bars etc. Overall though, the hotel is all you would expect of a Crowne Plaza.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

The golf course is well worth having a round on, especially if you like kangaroos! If you can, though, take your own clubs as the hire ones are a mix ’n’ match of all sorts.

Superior Hotel though location not the best

Booked this hotel in Caloundra after not being able to book further up the coast in Noosa. Hotel was a little difficult to find as location was through a string of small rondabouts and roads. Condition of hotel was superb from restaurant to our room. Had to change plans for our trip as cyclone was about to hit Fraser Island - our destination. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, giving us advice and telephone numbers and use of internet to book more flights. All in all a modern, trendy and friendly hotel.
